Butzweilerhof Airport

What began in 1910 with airships like the Zeppelin was turned into an airport for civil aviation in 1926. Traffic grew quickly, and from 1930 until World War II, “Butz” was known as the aviation hub of the west. Subsequently, the airport was used for military purposes and also as an airport for gliders. Today, large parts of the airport are subject to heritage protection rules. With us, you’ll learn about the airport’s fascinating history.
